Reason #1: Boraxo powdered hand soap is "green"
I'm obviously not talking about the color green because Boraxo is white, but I am talking about green as in good for the environment. Boraxo powdered hand soap is made from all natural ingredients that will not pollute the environment.
Reason #2: Boraxo exfoliates
Boraxo is a fantastic skin exfoliate. You could spend big bucks on high priced exfoliate products, but for my money, Boraxo soap is the best exfoliating soap. I just love how my hands feel after washing in Boraxo.
Reason #3: Boraxo cleans where other powdered hand soaps fail
Grease and grime can be a real problem for regular hand soaps, but Boraxo has scrubs your hands clean and carries away all of that grit and grime. If you are someone who gets their hands dirty - auto mechanic, gardener, factory worker etc., then I don't think you do any better than Boraxo powdered hand soap.
Reason #4: Boraxo has a great history
It's not often that you get a chance to use a product that has changed little in over 100 years. They got Boraxo right to begin with and it is just as good in modern times as it was in the Wild West. Boraxo has history and is truly an American original!
Reason #5: Boraxo is unusual
There really isn't anything quite like Boraxo soap on the market today. While it can be a little difficult to find in the store, it is well worth ordering some Boraxo powdered hand soap. I've used some expensive soaps that supposedly exfoliated, but they dissolved way too quickly to get the job done. If you are sick of using mundane, mass produced soaps that don't get the job done then you definitely need to try Boraxo soap!

Boraxo Soap: A Short History
The history of Boraxo soap is fascinating. It all began with one Francis Marion Smith who established the first successful borax mining operation in 1872 at Teel's Marsh, Nevada. Francis left Wisconsin for the West to prospect for minerals at the age of 21. He staked his claim with his brother Julius to a borax mine at the edge of a marsh. The borax works seperated impurities from the borax crystals. The brothers shipped their product by mule train, the origin of the now famous 20 mule team that is the symbol of Boraxo and other Borax-based products to this day. One of the routes led them across the formidable Mojave Desert through what known as Death Valley. The 20 mule team became famous in their own right and went on tour in the late 1800s.
Francis worked several other borax operations, hauling the mineral by mule train until it was possible to transport by train.
Today, the Borax company and Boraxo powdered hand soap are owned by Dial. Who would have thought that such a wonderful product would have such humble beginnings?

What is Boraxo Powdered Hand Soap?
Boraxo powdered hand soap is a combination of borax and soap. So, you might now be wondering what borax is and you may THINK you know what soap is, but after my little lesson on soap, you will see soap in a whole different light!
First, the borax part. Borax has many "scientific" names. It is known as sodium borate, sodium tetra borate, and disodium tetraborate! Geeze, who would have thought that Boraxo contained something so complex sounding? It really is not that complex when you analyze and break down what borax actually is. Borax is is a boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid and usually comes in a powdered form, which is a big reason why our beloved Boraxo powdered soap is white and somewhat gritty. As we already know from using Boraxo, borax is water soluble, meaning it will dissolve in water. Of course we know that one of the great qualities of Boraxo is that it won't dissolve instantly in water. It hangs around awhile to scrub your skin and provide that wonderful exfoliated feeling!
Now, I promised to give you an explanation of what soap is. I know many of you are thinking that soap is soap and you do not need a treatise on soap. Well, soap has some wonderful properties that warrant discussing. Did you know that soap works by making water wetter? That's right. Soap actually makes water wetter by decreasing its surface tension. The molecules in the water have trouble attracting to one another and this creates a less powerful bond which means that that the water is wetter, at least in a sense.
Soap is what is known as an emulsifier. It can trap particles like dirt and oils. Where plain old water fails to remove the gunk, soap traps the gunk particles and allows the water to carry them away.
This brings us back to Boraxo powdered hand soap. Not only does Boraxo have the wonderful emulsifier to trap the gunk, but it also has borax to help scrub the gunk off of your skin (along with any dead and flaking skin). So, Boraxo does double duty in scrubbing the gunk and then trapping it in the soap so the water can wash it away.
I told you that Boraxo is special!
